Activities
- Promotes
and recognizes outstanding high school
citizenship and scholarship through an annual
spring program.
- Solicits scholarship applications from seniors of all high schools in Tippecanoe County (Central Catholic, Faith Christian, Harrison, Jefferson, McCutcheon, and West Lafayette).
- Encourages officials at each high school to nominate students who consistently have demonstrated the principals of good citizenship as well as scholarship.
- Selects a total of five awardees, each of whom will receive a $1,000 scholarship to pursue a technical or academic education. Rotary will award one scholarship per qualifying high school or qualified pool of high schools. For equity of distribution, all qualified high schools with less than 100 graduates will be placed in one competitive pool. (Note: This will result in one scholarship award to a student from Faith Christian, First Assemblies Academy or Central Catholic). There will be one scholarship awarded for each from the other schools.
- Assures that the program will note that the scholarships are provided in honor of Frank K. Burrin and Eric A. Holm Scholarship using funds available from the Lafayette Rotary Foundation.
- Plans, arranges, and conducts a recognition luncheon for the selected seniors. Responsible for: (1) Invitations to seniors, parents, principals, and superintendents; (2) Program copy to the executive director; (3) An appropriate speaker; (4) Photographer and copy of news release; (5) Appropriately engraved plaque for each selected senior, (6) Name badges for all guests; and (7) Host from the Committee for each school to ensure that all guests are properly welcomed, introduced , and hosted during the program.
- Coordinates
all activities with high schools, the executive
director, and appropriate committees (Program,
Public Relations, etc.)
- The recognition luncheon is generally held the third Tuesday in April.
