    JANE'S CORNER:
Highlights of the Board of Director's meeting:
    • The treasurer reported that the Club funds came through the recent stock market crash in good shape. Most of the money was in cash.

    • The Governance committee's suggested language to speed up the approval process for new members received considerable discussion and was sent back to committee to revise reflecting the discussion.

    • JAYNE FEATHERS, on behalf of the Backpack Committee, suggested that a "Frugal Meal" replace our usual fare as a money-maker. We would have soup, breads, cookies and beverages and pay the usual price. The hotel would charge a lesser price for the food. No action was taken.

    • TOM MORAN reported on the Gus Macker Tournament, saying that we had a 10% increase in the number of teams. We have a contract for next year at the same fee for a tournament on September 12 and 13. Sponsor recruitment begins this month.

    • The Board agreed that our Rotary Directory should be distributed in soft form, but that it should be used for Rotary business only.

Highlights of the Lafayette Rotary Club Foundation meeting:
    • The Investment committee presented a report showing the bruising caused by the recent financial crisis. Fewer funds may be available to the Club for the next couple of years.

    • A nominating committee was appointed to slate officers and a board member for next year.
